Coláiste na hInse students were running to support the School-Mates project and their sponsorship money goes towards educating young people of their own age in poorer countries. For example one project is the ‘Rainbow School’ in Uganda where young people can study or learn a trade. (see: www.school-mates.org/home.asp). Not only did the students run but they also held a cake sale raising Euro300.
“They felt it was something that they could relate to because people of their own age will to benefit from what they are doing and that really interested them,” said their teacher Sinead O Donnell who organised the event with fellow teacher Anthony Murphy.
